A monthly pension can serve as a real help for several families in Jammu and Kashmir that have no steady source of income. The J&K Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS) provides this support to people who meet the eligibility conditions set by the Social Welfare Department.
The scheme covers various groups like old-age persons, widows, divorcees, persons with disabilities, and transgender persons. The rules do not apply in the same way to all categories, and applicants need to check the conditions that apply to their own case.
The J&K Government revised the monthly pension rates with effect from 1st April 2025. The beneficiaries below 60 years will get revised rates of Rs 1,250 per month, those in the age group of 60 years to 79 years will get Rs 1,500, and those aged 80 years and above will get Rs 2,000.
The JK-ISSSGOI-NSAP Pension Application is to be submitted through the J&K JanSugam portal.
What is J&K ISSS?
The Integrated Social Security Scheme is a welfare scheme run by the Social Welfare Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
It provides monthly financial support to the persons who come under the categories of pension covered under the scheme. The main categories are
- Old age pension
- Widow pension
- Divorcee pension
- Disability pension
- Transgender pension
The pension is paid every month after the application is approved. It is different from schemes that provide a one-time financial benefit.
The exact eligibility requirements depend on the category. For example, an old-age pension applicant has different requirements from someone applying under disability or widow pension.

J&K ISSS Pension Amount in 2026
The J&K Government revised the pension rates through Government Order No. 96-JK(SWD) of 2025, dated April 3, 2025. The revised rates took effect from April 1, 2025.

The higher rate applies when the pensioner moves into the next age group, as provided in the government order.
Who Can Apply for ISSS Pension?
There is no single age or eligibility rule for everyone applying under ISSS. The requirement depends on the type of pension.
Old Age Pension
The ISSS rules include old-age pension for eligible persons who meet the prescribed age and other conditions.
Under the 2022 ISSS rules, the old-age category covers women aged 55 years or above and men aged 60 years or above, subject to the other conditions of the scheme. The rules also refer to AAY and PHH ration card categories.
So, simply reaching the required age does not by itself guarantee approval. The applicant must also satisfy the other conditions and provide the required documents.
Widow and Divorcee Pension
Widows and divorcees can also apply under the relevant ISSS category if they meet the conditions.
For a widow, documents relating to the death of the husband and non-remarriage may be required. In the case of a divorcee, the department may ask for the divorce certificate and other documents relating to maintenance and marital status.
These requirements are reflected in the documents currently listed on JanSugam.
Disability Pension
ISSS also covers eligible persons with disabilities.
The scheme rules provide conditions relating to the extent and type of disability. The current JanSugam service asks for a UDID Card for the disability category.
Applicants should keep their disability-related documents ready before starting the application.
Transgender Pension
The scheme also has a pension category for eligible transgender persons.
For this category, JanSugam lists a Certificate of Identity as a Transgender Person issued by the District Magistrate among the required documents.
What Documents Are Needed?
The documents depend on the pension category selected. You may not need every document listed below.
For the current ISSS/GOI-NSAP service, JanSugam lists documents including:
- Aadhaar Card
- Domicile Certificate
- Ration Card
- Bank Passbook
- Consent Form for Aadhaar Seeding of the Bank Account
- Affidavit
- Age Proof
- Death Certificate of Husband, for applicable cases
- Divorce Certificate, for applicable cases
- Maintenance Affidavit, for applicable cases
- Non-Remarriage Certificate, for applicable cases
- UDID Card, for disability cases
- Certificate of Identity as Transgender Person, for applicable cases
- Previous Bank Passbook, where required
The JanSugam page also lists different acceptable forms of age proof, so applicants should check the current requirements before submitting the form.
How to Apply for J&K ISSS Pension?
The application can be submitted through J&K JanSugam. You can apply online yourself or use the kiosk option if you need help with the online process.
Step 1: Open JanSugam
Go to the official J&K JanSugam portal and find the service named Application for Sanction of Pension under JK-ISSS / GOI-NSAP.
Step 2: Register
Registration is required for this service. Create an account if you are using JanSugam for the first time.
Step 3: Choose the Pension Service
Select the ISSS / GOI-NSAP pension service and provide the details asked in the application.
Step 4: Fill in Your Details
Enter your personal information, address, ration card details and bank details carefully.
Before moving ahead, compare the information with your documents. A small difference in name, date of birth or bank details can create problems during verification.
Step 5: Upload the Documents
Upload the documents required for your particular pension category.
Make sure the copies are clear. If a document has several pages, check that all required pages have been included.
Step 6: Submit the Form
Review the application form and then click on submit.
Keep the application reference number or acknowledgement after submission. It can be useful when checking the status of the application later.
People who do not want to submit the application themselves can use the kiosk option available for the service.
How Long Does the Application Take?
The current JanSugam service lists a service delivery period of 30 days, excluding government holidays. This is the stated timeline for the service. Approval still depends on whether the applicant meets the scheme conditions and the submitted documents are found to be correct
What Happens After You Apply?
The application goes through the department’s verification process.
The ISSS rules provide for verification at the Tehsil Social Welfare Officer level, followed by processing at the District Social Welfare Officer and Directorate level.
The department checks the applicant’s documents and eligibility before the pension is sanctioned.
Once the pension is sanctioned, the payment is made to the beneficiary’s bank account. JanSugam also lists the bank passbook and Aadhaar-seeding consent among the documents required for the service.
How Can I Check My Application Status?
The JanSugam portal provides application-related services through its online system. If you submitted the application online, the acknowledgement or reference details provided at the time of submission should also be kept for future use.
If there is any issue with the application, the department may require additional information or documents.
