Students studying Science in Jammu and Kashmir can get financial help through the Science Talent Promotion Scholarship. The scheme is run by the J&K Science, Technology & Innovation Council, Department of Science and Technology.
The scholarship covers students at three stages: +10, +12 and Post Graduate level. Students have to meet the required marks and must be studying Science at the level for which they are applying.

J&K Science Talent Promotion Scholarship
The scheme is for students who continue their studies in Science after Class 10, Class 12 or B.Sc.
The J&K Science, Technology & Innovation Council invited applications from domicile students of Jammu and Kashmir for the scholarship of 2026. The notification required 60% minimum marks in the qualifying examination.
The three levels covered were:
- +10 Level
- +12 Level
- Postgraduate Level

Eligibility for +10 Scholarship
The student can apply at the +10 level and must have completed class 10 with a minimum of 60% marks.
The student must be studying Science subjects in class 11 in a recognized school or institution of Jammu and Kashmir after class 10.
Getting 60% marks alone is not enough. The student must also be studying Science subjects at the required level.
Eligibility for the +12 Scholarship
For the +12 class, the student must have passed Class 12 with a minimum of 60% marks.
The student must then be studying Science subjects in the first year of a recognized college or institution in Jammu and Kashmir.
This level is for students moving from school education to higher education in Science.
Eligibility for Post Graduate Scholarship
Students applying for Post Graduate level should have passed a B.Sc. with a minimum of 60% marks.
They should also be studying a Science subject in the first year of Post Graduation, such as M.Sc., at a recognized university in Jammu and Kashmir.

The 2026 notification also required applicants to be domiciled in Jammu and Kashmir.

- Bonafide certificate from the school, college or university
- Aadhaar Card
- Bank account details
- Domicile Certificate
- Class 10 certificate, which is compulsory for all applicants
The 2026 notification also mentioned a copy of the student’s bank passbook and the matriculation certificate as compulsory documents.

How to Apply for the J&K Science Talent Promotion Scholarship?
The application method might change with a new scholarship notification, so students must check the latest notice before submitting their form.
For the 2026 cycle, the applications were submitted in hard copy to the concerned offices of the J&K Science, Technology & Innovation Council. Students of the Kashmir Division were asked to submit their forms at the office at SDA Colony, Bemina, Srinagar, while students of the Jammu Division were asked to submit their forms at the office at 5-B/C Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
For the application, students need to:

When Was the Last Application Date?
The application deadline for the 2026 scholarship cycle was 31 July 2026. Applications for this cycle are now closed. Students waiting for the next application window should check the latest notification from the J&K Science, Technology & Innovation Council.
